About me.

I am Ashley DeVore a High School Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher in Southwest Missouri. I currently am in my 4th year of teaching at Bolivar High School. I LOVE my job... most days. :)
I teach a variety of courses that include Child Development 1 and 2, Human Development, Housing and Environmental Design, Career and Family Leadership, and Career Pathways to the Teaching Profession. I am also the FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) Adviser at our school.
2016 National Leadership Conference - San Diego, California

I am married to Dustin DeVore who is a Livestock Specialist for MFA in South-Central Missouri. Together we have been married for nearly 7 years and have a Corgi named Cujo and 2 Cats (Kitkat, and Cali.)

I stay busy trying to actively promote Family and Consumer Sciences in various ways. I am currently the MoEFACS (Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences) Secretary and am excited to be attending the ACTE National Vision Conference in November 2016.
I was recently selected as the 2016 Missouri New FACS Teacher of the Year in July. In past years I have represented our profession as well as FCCLA by promoting FACS at various events at our State and National Capitols.

I originally found interest in FCS or FACS or Family and Consumer Sciences because of my love of cooking. I wanted to teach teens to be able to prepare safe and healthy meals for their families. However, through the course of my student teaching and some further experience I found a love for teaching Child Development. Then, throughout the last couple of years I gained a lot of interest in how technology can be incorporated into education to assist with the teaching and learning process. I have been fortunate to work in two 1:1 school districts in Missouri.

Throughout my experiences with incorporating technology I found that there was a lack of information out there that was specific to the FCS world. So, here is my contribution. My blog, about what tech tools I use. I try to throw in some helpful tidbits as well as share any successes or failures I experienced when planning, prepping, and using the resources with my own classes.

If you have any further questions or are wondering about a tech tool you have heard of or seen please let me know!

Thanks for checking out my blog!

  1. Just discovered your blog! I have one I periodically post to for FACS--Becca's Heart for FACS Education; however my paper-crafting blog gets the most activity, Becca's Heart for Creativity...just in case you want to visit either of these.
